\sb0 \b0 BartolomΘ Esteban Murillo was born in \b \cf4 \ATXht151 Seville\b0 \cf0 \ATXht0 and entered the workshop of the painter Juan del Castillo at a very young age, remaining there until 1639, when he started to work on his own.\par
Around 1644-5, he painted his first important cycle for the Franciscan monastery in Seville. In 165
5, he made a long visit to Madrid, where he had the opportunity to see and study the masterpieces in the royal collections. He reached the peak of his career in the years between 1665 and his death: the grace and charm of his works were appreciated throu
ghout Europe and were in demand everywhere. He died in Seville in 1681.\par
